Choosing a Pregnancy Pillow
Every pregnancy is different. However, sooner or later being pregnant becomes uncomfortable, especially when it comes to sleep. It's often hard to find a comfortable position and have it remain that way for any length of time. During pregnancy you often become acutely aware of your back muscles; feeling every little bit of effort it takes to stay in any position. However, there is hope.
Sleeping on your side is often recommended to improve blood flow to the baby. To achieve a comfortable side position, support is required. In order to take the strain off your back muscles, use a few bed pillows or a body pillow for support. Hip pressure may be eased by slightly separating your knees and ankles (so that your knees are in alignment with your hip sockets). Abdominal support can be achieved by allowing the weight of your abdomen to rest on a pillow. One of the best ways to achieve a comfortable position is with a body pillow which eliminates the need for several bed pillows, which are often difficult to keep in position.
